馬天娜畢業於香港浸會大學英文系，及後於情趣用品店工作，自稱「非學術女性情慾研究者」。所謂「非學術」，就是因為低調、沒有專業權威，令芸芸女人們願意與她坦誠分享情慾及身體的種種。她同時熱衷參與社會運動及LGB運動。

Martina received her BA in English Language and Literature from Hong Kong Baptist University and worked in a sex shop afterwards. With her experience in studying women's intimate desires, she claims to be a “non-academic female desire researcher.” Ngai is also an active participant in social movements and LGBTQ activities.
